In the seventeen years since its founding, Greenpoint Gallery has faced its share of crises, however, none as drastic as the 2020 pandemic and quarantine. As a community arts organization, we continued to provide a virtual venue for local artists who’s ideas and efforts as painters, illustrators, photographers, printmakers and sculptors remained relevant as markers of time, place and identity throughout these difficult times.
In an effort to try to help our gallery stay vibrant during these economic hardships, we also hosted a fundraising contest for each of our online shows. The winner of the Popular Vote was rewarded a $500 cash prize and a solo show at The Greenpoint Gallery. The winner of the "Curator's Choice" award (selected by gallery owner Shawn James) was also rewarded a solo show at the time of reopening.
We present to you a collection of amazing works in a series of virtual exhibitions titled: The Art of Isolation
